The certification exam for this course is optional. Phlebotomy Technicians work in a variety of settings, such as labs and clinics.
In this course, students will learn how to draw blood from patients and blood donors, explain procedures, perform basic point of care testing, and maintain medical equipment. Many employers require a professional certification. To assist students in getting the required amount of practice to qualify to take the NHA exam, students are encouraged to bring adult volunteers for practicing blood draws on scheduled stick days.
All volunteers must be 18 years of age and a consent and release of liability form. Upon course completion, and if the necessary requirements are met, students will be eligible to sit for the optional Certified Phlebotomy Technician CPT exam through the NHA. Students must be 18 years of age to enroll in this course.
This is a part-time course that lasts a total of 70 hours. Balances must be paid in full prior to the course start date.
